Reiki and the Sense of Wonder
Gene Cernan, the last human to walk on the moon (1972), passed away on January 16, 2017. Shortly after his time on the moon, Cernan predicted that we’d be on our way to Mars by the end of the 20th century. That didn’t happen, but it could have, given intension, commitment and investment. And that’s amazing in itself.
Contemplating Cernan’s life awakens my sense of wonder. I imagine what could have been, what still will be. I enjoy visions of outer-space.
Here in January 2017 another amazing event is upon us: A presidential inauguration looms that has divided this country like never-in-my-lifetime. A deep uncertainty is present. The collective anxiety of this planet’s people in the days before the inauguration - and the outcry and protest - is palpable.
Yet, I’m oddly peaceful about the inauguration. Sure I’m ready to resist policies that harm life on earth, but from a calm clear perspective.
Over the weekend designated to honor Martin Luther King Jr., I was delighted to teach and experience a Holy Fire II Karuna ® Reiki master class. What a good idea that was! Reiki reveals the peace of the present moment. The bizarre events of politics and social upheaval take their place in history, where they cannot disturb our equanimity.
